Photographs

I didn't chose this photo because i didn't think it really suited what i was asked to do. It is a head and shoulder shot however it isn't very clear that it is. Also it looks like it has been taken without much thought. The pose isn't a very serious pose either unlike the picture i chose. However it does look like a fun photo which i wanted but i don't think it was very suitable for a college magazine. This picture also doesn't really come across as a sailor theme which was my aim of using the photo, although the girl has a sailor hat the colours used in the pictures don't match the conventional colours of a sailor.

I chose this picture for my magazine cover because its a head and shoulder shot, which is what i was asked to use. I also chose it because what the girl is wearing is a sailor outfit which sailor colours so it would be clear to the reader why she is wearing it. You can also see the whole girls face which i think is needed for a front cover of a magazine.

Evaluation

Over all i think that i have done well in my magazine. I think the photo on the front cover is appropriate to the theme of the magazine which is sailor theme. It is appropriate as the girl is dressed as a sailor with typical sailor colours and a hat, it is also a head and shoulder shot which is what i was asked to use. I also think that the colours of the fonts and the background go well with each other and match the theme of the magazine. I chose neutral colours as the magazine was aimed for both boys and girls. Another reason i chose the font colour is because they are the colours of the sussex downs slogan.

Introduction

I have been asked to create a front cover and a contents page for a college magazine. The target audience will therefore be 16-18 years of age.
